ClickUp Gantt charts, and sharing progress with clients

ClickUp has a Gantt view on every plan, with limits on Free. Sharing it with clients is where it gets fiddly. Here’s what works, what clients see, and a simpler client view.

Short answer: ClickUp’s Gantt view is on every plan, but the Free plan allows 60 uses. ClickUp has no client portal of its own: you share work with guests or a public link to a view, and dashboards can’t be shared outside your Workspace. For a simple progress view clients understand, export the list and share it as a live Waypoint link.

Uses add up over time and don’t reset; opening the view counts. Gantt baselines and Gantt export to PDF or image are on Business and up.

How to add a Gantt view

  1. Open a Space, Folder or List and click + View in the views bar.
  2. Choose Gantt, name it, and adjust it with Customize.
  3. Give tasks start and due dates; undated tasks can be scheduled from the Gantt sidebar.

Turn a ClickUp list into a live client view

  1. Export from ClickUp. Open a List or Table view, click Customize at the top right → Export, choose CSV and Download. View exports need a paid ClickUp plan (Unlimited allows 5).
  2. Upload it to Waypoint. Start a journey, choose Upload a file and drop in the export. Waypoint finds the task, status, due date and owner columns, suggests the list or a custom field for the stops along the route, and maps statuses like “in progress”, “blocked” and “complete” to four states: not started, in progress, blocked and done. A live preview updates as you adjust.
  3. Name the destination. The outcome your client cares about, like “Checkout 2.0 live for every customer”, and the target date.
  4. Choose what clients see, then share the link. Stop names, task names and dates are each on or off. Owners and internal notes are never shown. Clients open the link in any browser, with no account, and tap a stop to see its tasks.
  5. Keep it current. Upload a fresh export to the same journey (journey settings → Change source or columns); Waypoint remembers your columns and the link stays the same. Or keep the tasks in a Google Sheet: Waypoint re-checks a shared sheet every 15 minutes, so the journey moves on its own.
A mobile app release shown as a Waypoint journey under the sea: Design done, Build in progress with a blocked task flagged, and Test and Ship ahead.
A ClickUp app release as a Waypoint journey: lists become stops, and a blocked task glows on the route.
