Share your monday.com Gantt and timeline with clients

monday.com’s Gantt view is great for planning. Showing it to a client is another matter. Here’s what the views do, your sharing options and what each one shows, and a simpler client view.

Short answer: monday.com has Gantt and Timeline views from the Standard plan up. To show progress to a client you can invite them as a guest on a shareable board or share a view by link, which needs no login. Guests work inside your board, and a shared view shows your columns as they are. For a visual page clients understand at a glance, export the board to Excel and share it as a live Waypoint link.

How to add a Gantt view

  1. Click + (Add view) below the board name and choose Gantt.
  2. Check the dates. Items need a Timeline or Date column to appear.
  3. Add a Dependency column if you want arrows between items.

The Gantt view isn’t available in the monday.com mobile app.

Why a board view is hard for clients

  • It’s your working board. Column names, status labels and item counts make sense to your team. A client needs to know how far along it is and when it lands.
  • Guests are collaborators. They see updates written for teammates and get notifications, and they can change items unless you lock the board down.
  • A shared view is a grid. It’s live and login-free, but the client still has to interpret it.

Turn a monday.com board into a live client view

  1. Export from monday.com. Open the board, click ⋯ at the top right → More actions → Export board to Excel → Export. Waypoint reads the file as it comes, including the group titles.
  2. Upload it to Waypoint. Start a journey, choose Upload a file and drop in the export. Waypoint finds the task, status, due date and owner columns, suggests your board’s groups for the stops along the route, and maps statuses like “Working on it”, “Stuck” and “Done” to four states: not started, in progress, blocked and done. A live preview updates as you adjust.
  3. Name the destination. The outcome your client cares about, like “Checkout 2.0 live for every customer”, and the target date.
  4. Choose what clients see, then share the link. Stop names, task names and dates are each on or off. Owners and internal notes are never shown. Clients open the link in any browser, with no account, and tap a stop to see its tasks.
  5. Keep it current. Upload a fresh export to the same journey (journey settings → Change source or columns); Waypoint remembers your columns and the link stays the same. Direct monday.com sync is on the way.
